NIC (New Internet Computer) is a small personal computer, designed to be marketed to people who only need a
minimal computer for surfing the internet. It is made to run entirely from a CD,
saving only configuration files to a small, 4 MB Flash chip. I've hacked up the NIC
and replaced the CD drive with a laptop hard drive loaded with Gentoo 2004.1. NIC is currently
on disabled leave after I screwed up the OS. I'm looking for something
for it to work on before I bother getting it running again.
- Small set-top box; smaller than a VCR.
- Cyrix MII 200 MHz processor
- 64 MB PC-100 RAM
- 4 GB IBM Travelstar laptop hard drive
